The Strategic Lifeline of Offshore Energy

Black Marlin Marine is a master time-charter contractor providing essential maritime support throughout the Gulf of America. We supply the vessels that keep offshore exploration, drilling, production, and decommissioning operations moving, serving as a logistical lifeline for supermajors and other key operators across the offshore energy sector.

Our mission is simple and steadfast: to deliver the maritime assets that power the offshore energy economy.

Building Capacity. Building Assets. Building the Future.

BMM operates as a trusted brokerage and strategic partner, offering access to multiple vessel classes through a network of high-performing industry partnerships. We leverage access to proven vessels, comprehensive insurance programs, robust marine assurance systems, and decades of offshore operational experience. As we expand capacity, acquire assets, and strengthen our operational base, we continue advancing toward full independence with capability, reliability, and forward momentum guiding every step.

Our Values

At Black Marlin Marine, our values guide every decision we make—onshore and offshore.

We identify, meet, and consistently exceed all applicable industry standards.

Safety and regulatory compliance are foundational to every operation, every asset, and every decision.

We do the right thing—especially when no one is watching—because trust is earned through conduct, not words.

We foster long-term partnerships through transparency, accountability, and operational reliability.

We continuously invest in our people, assets, and systems to strengthen operational capacity and increase operational independence.

Our Commitment

Safety First — Every Time

Every vessel, every mission, and every partnership is governed by strict adherence to applicable regulations, disciplined operational practices, and a deeply embedded safety culture.

A commitment to safety requires constant attention to compliance, training, and accountability

This disciplined approach is why Black Marlin Marine has earned the confidence of major operators and maintains a trusted presence in the offshore energy sector.

Safety is not a priority that shifts—it is the foundation upon which every operation is planned, executed, and evaluated.

Built to Break Barriers

Long before the formation of Black Marlin Marine—or their service as railroad, port, and airport commissioners—brothers Arnold and Whitney Baker managed inland marine logistics supporting their family’s concrete operations.

As sourcing of cement and aggregate became constrained, they began chartering tugs, barges, and tankers to move materials directly from the Midwest to end markets. That experience revealed inefficiencies and opportunities across both the inland and offshore maritime supply chain.

Black Marlin Marine was built on that foundation—driven by the belief that opportunity is earned through performance, not limited by structural barriers.

To put that belief into action, the company assembled a leadership team with deep maritime, operational, and commercial expertise and formed strategic partnerships committed to operational discipline, safety, and expanding qualified minority participation. Its Mentor-Protégé programs include Laborde Marine Management, Otto Candies, and LabMar Inland Marine.

Today, Black Marlin Marine has earned the confidence of major clients and is recognized for its strong safety culture, strict adherence to industry standards, and ability to meet the rigorous demands of the world’s largest energy companies.

Our Growth Timeline

Supermajors have embraced this model, recognizing the value of true assets-to-assets collaboration and performance-based diversification.
